Hi there,
How lovely that you are here with me in my virtual kitchen!


My name is Isabel, living in the Netherlands but I am orginally  from Sweden. I am totally mad about food; I read, think, dream, talk, cook and eat food 24/7.

The power of taste fascinates me tremendously. A certain flavor can bring back memories, make you happy or sad or just enjoy life slightly more.
Local, biological, food in season, healthy, raw, vegan, paleo or with less carbs and more fat (LCHF); yes, I love it all. But most of all I love TASTE.
Food is all about taste and experience. To be shared and to be explored. I explore taste from all over the world and I love to share it with you.

My food philosophy is very simple:
– The food should be tasty and exciting
– It should preferably be healthy for me as well as for the food chain
– It should preferably be in season for where you leave your hat at this very moment
– With a curiosity in both looking forward as well as backwards in ingredients and cooking methods
– Bring people together to share (or debate) their joint experience

It just happens that the bullet points above all come together in the combination of LCHF, Paleo and Raw food for me. They are not diets, they are a way of living. Actually, what it all comes down to is going back to the basics. Eating the food that we used to do; without preservatives, colorants and E-numbers. Just eating the food in its original form.

For the curious or in-search-foodie visiting my blog, I have decided to try to make a description for the different names.
Listen! I’m not a nutritionist and don’t intend to be one. I just eat what makes me feel good, and it just happens to work for more people than only for myself. The definitions below I have borrowed from people who know much more than I do according to nutrients etc.
See what fits you the best. Read, learn and form your own ideas based on facts and how your own body works. The sites that I have mentioned below are only a few examples, there are much more to be found about each one of the definitions!

LCHF (Low carb high fat)
”A low-carb diet means you eat fewer carbohydrates and a higher proportion of fat.
Most importantly you minimize your intake of sugar and starches. You can eat other delicious foods until you are satisfied – and still lose weight.
Eat: Meat, fish, eggs, vegetables growing above ground and natural fats (like butter).
Avoid: Sugar and starchy foods (like bread, pasta, rice, beans and potatoes).

Eat when you’re hungry until you are satisfied. It’s that simple.
You do not need to count calories or weigh your food. And just forget about industrially produced low-fat products.”

PALEO
The Paleo Diet is an effort to eat like we used to back in the day…WAY back in the day.  If a caveman couldn’t eat it, neither can you.

”Eat: whole, unprocessed, nutrient-dense, nourishing foods. Prioritize grass fed and pastured meats and eggs, wild-caught seafood, and vegetables. Enjoy fruit, nuts, and seeds in moderation.
Avoid: foods that will harm us by causing systemic inflammation, wrecking our guts, or derailing our natural metabolic processes. Abstain from toxic, pro-inflammatory foods like gluten-containing grains, legumes, sugar, and the laboratory-concocted Frankenfoods found in the middle aisles of your neighborhood supermarket.”

RAW FOOD
A raw vegan diet consists of whole, organic, unprocessed, and uncooked plant foods that are not heated above 110-118 degrees F, ~42º Celsius. In general, vegetables, fruits, sprouted and fermented foods, nuts, and seeds may all be included in a raw food diet. While raw food is never cooked at high temperatures, it may be blended, juiced, chopped, shredded, diced, and dehydrated.

”A raw foods diet is made up of fresh, whole, unrefined, living, plant-based foods: fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds, which are consumed in their natural state, without cooking or steaming. People who adopt this diet are often referred to as “raw fooders” or “raw vegans.”

    • Thank you, so great and inspiring with more foodies! I just wished I had any homegrown products to use but living in the city makes it rather impossible, I just have to do with the biological market here… Lucky you!

    • Hi Louise, thank you! Great to see that we are more Scandinavian people in the world “preaching” low carb and lchf. Is it big in UK yet? Here in the Netherlands the movement is rather slow still unfortunately… But thats our chance right? ;0)
      I have to find a moment for your Lamb Curry with Coconut Milk, it sound sooo good!

      • It is slowly gaining momentum over here but it usually the more hardcore keto version of lchf. I prefer the lots of vegetables lchf version. Paleo is becoming very popular though which is definitely a big plus. Yes, let’s spread the word 😄
